We should all have a special place we can escape to for resting and restoration of our spirits and souls.
I'm very lucky that mine is only 40 minutes from home and I get to go once a month for at least 4 hours... for pampering but mostly for peace and a space to catch my breath....
My special place is a little camp just outside Baynesfield. How did I end up there?
Five years ago I met Lara, who at the time lived just 5 minutes from my home. She became my beautician and very quickly a firm friend. We share life experiences that bond us together in understanding... another important must have!!!
A couple years in and Lara announced her and her husband were up and moving to Baynesfield... shock and horror for me... who was going to shape my brows and do my nails... I'm very picky about who is allowed in my personal space and mind... So I promised faithfully I would attempt the trek up and see how it went. I did my sums and figured out that even with the cost of fuel it would still cost me the same to travel up as opposed to switching to another local lady...
And so started my monthly treks to Lara.....
Over time I've watched her daughter KT grow up into a precious nearly 5 year old (Lara was pregnant when I met her). I've finally been accepted by their lunatic dog Peaches .... a rather odd dog that one... and Lara and I have swapped stories, tears and laughter as our friendship has grown... with the stories we tell in those four walls it's no wonder!!!! Lara anticipates my visits as I fill her in on the soap opera that at times my life has been, and I catch up with the antics of Peaches and KT... the dog being the break in artist and the child the escape artist...
But more than that I look forward to knowing that once a month I get to escape to a place which brings me peace and solace and restores my faith in life.... Thank you Lara for providing me with such a beautiful place to restore my soul.
“There will be times when you will be in the field without a camera.
And, you will see the most glorious sunset or the most beautiful scene that you have ever witnessed.
Don’t be bitter because you can’t record it.
Sit down, drink it in, and enjoy it for what it is!”
