Seems like the best laid plans are simply not going to go my way at the moment!
My blog was supposed to start with my experiences in the Imfolozi Wilderness 4 weeks ago... instead it starts with coffee... A beverage I don't even drink!
4 days ago I embarked on my 2nd Nifty Fifty Challenge for the year. My year started with one and it seems appropriate for me to finish up with one... so much has happened since I took this photo of raindrops on the windscreen on the 1st of January 2013...
It's been a year of incredible highs and devastating lows...
So how did it start with coffee...
One of my strongest childhood memories was of my Dad making me my cup of tea every morning on waking me up.. little routines we all take for granted... this morning I woke up and offered my son Nathan a cup of coffee... his look of wonder and shock and disbelief was jarring.. along with his comment "Mom why are you being kind?"... how did he get to 16 years old with his mom never having made him a cup of coffee in the morning (although in all fairness he was only allowed to start drinking coffee when he turned 16 in July!!)... But this simple act put a smile on his face and sent him off to face his Maths exam feeling loved and cared for.... a small gesture that makes the world of difference to someone... and a memory we'll both keep forever.
Today has certainly been laced with highs and lows...
My Best Friend of 18 years turned 50 today ...
My 14 year old son has been gone from my home for 2 months today - having chosen to go live with his Dad... I miss him every day ... today more then others
A simple cup of coffee drew me closer to my eldest son
So if you reading this, welcome to my world, some days will be fun, some not so good.. but every day is a day of growth and a day to move forward...
