Cleansing Prayer
I cleanse myself of all selfishness, resentment, critical feeling for my fellow beings, self condemnation, and misinterpretation of my life experiences.
I bathe myself in generosity, appreciation, praise and gratitude for my fellow beings, self acceptance and enlightened understanding of my life experiences.

For me the practise of prayer is found in the practise of gratitude.
I'm not here to talk about religion. As with politics each to his or her own. I do believe that if you only turn to prayer in your time of need, in whatever format that prayer takes for you, then it is already to late.
We live in this amazing world which will never cease to amaze us with its beauty, its vastness and the way things live in harmony. Just use your own body as an example. Everything is designed to function together, even if at times with little input from you. Something created all of that harmony. Call it God, Buddha, the Prophet Mohamed or even just evolution. Whatever name you want to give it you just need remember to give thanks for all those things that make up your world.
I keep a gratitude / thought journal and every night I record something that has happened in my day for which I am grateful. It can be gratitude for work that keeps me employed, time with a friend, a quote from a good book, a shared joke with my kids or even just simply saying thank you to surviving the day. It is just something that makes me stop and say, "Hey, yes there were plenty not good moments in the day but here is something good, something to make a note of. In the end not all was lost.". That is my way that I pray at the end of the day. When you are feeling like the world is on your shoulders then simple gratitude is the most uplifting form of prayer you can offer to any Higher Being you believe in but also most of all to yourself.
Over the last 20 years I've had some really low moments. In perspective not as awful as things others may have experienced but that is how life works, our perception is our reality. There were times when even being grateful for a crumb was hard. You need to dig deep and truly, even if it is just one thing, give thanks for it. Offer that up as your prayer of hope for better things to come. Gratitude, like prayer, takes practise and you have to have faith in something bigger then yourself or the world, whatever that something bigger may be. Let the prayer of gratitude be your lifeline for you if that is all you have in that moment.
My sacred prayer is always one of gratitude and knowing to give thanks for that I have.
Because even on bad days I am grateful that what I have is always enough.
Love Always
